History of the Poe Reef Lighthouse

This off shore lighthouse was built to relieve a lightship that was previously used. The tower stands sixty feet tall and is comprised of four stories.

Directions: Given that this lighthouse sits off shore, the best view is from the water. However, you can get a decent view from the road. Heading east out of Cheboygan on US-23, you can see the Poe Reef Lighthouse. I pulled off to the side of the road and with the aid of telephoto lens, I was able to get a good picture of it. I was later told that you can get a good picture of it from within Cheboygan State Park.
